Tamales and Frankenstein...?...

Sounds like a heck of a combination...right? Well...that is what I have done today...

I have my tamale meat cooked, shredded, and seasoned and in the fridge soaking up all those wonderful flavors. Tomorrow...I make, cook and eat tamales!!! I haven't made these in over 3 years!! About time!

And Frankensteins!! I finished up 2 of these and listed them on Ebay this afternoon.

They are created using a My Darlin' Dolls pattern with a few of my own twists...like the eyes...the quilted nose for more definition...the pennant...and those hi-top sneakers!!

This guy looks more like a frat boy than a frankenstein...except for those stitches on his lower chin.

He is still absolutely cute in my book! I just love his ears!! So funky!! And that expression on his face...makes me laugh!!

Just listed...and what I am working on today...

These are the 2 dolls which I just listed on Ebay. The one is blue is made using fabric I found at a garage sale UNUSED AND UNCUT...I purchased an entire box of very nice, clean, unused fabric for $5....I almost felt bad walking away with it for that cheap.

This heart print...I swear has been around since the late 90's...but I haven't seen it too much lately...so when I noticed it in the box...I HAD to HAVE it!!

Didn't know what I was going to use it for...but I like it as a pinafore apron on this dollie.

I will put a link at the bottom for more photos.

This one...The apron is a cloth dish towel...with the phrase HOME IS WHERE YOUR STORY BEGINS embroidered onto it.

I found it at a gift shoppe nearby. I knew I wanted to use it for an apron...and the fabric I had at home matched perfectly with it!!

Today I am working on 2 Frankenstein dolls...new pattern...but not mine...it is by My Darlin' Dolls. Really cute....!! Can hardly wait to see how he turns out.

1800 style Prairie Bonnet

So...I tried my hand at making one of these 1800's Style Prairie bonnets...a pattern I recently purchased from Backside of the Moon... Excellent pattern.

But as per my usual...I make things alot harder for myself than they actually are.

I read thru the instructions first...like a good little crafter...I mean...that is WHY they take the time to write them...right? And I couldn't make sense of them...my brain...not the creator of the pattern. Lol!

I just figured if I actually did it...maybe it would all come together for me and make sense as I go along???????

So...I cut it all out...and sat at the machine with directions by my side. I opted NOT to put in the interfacing...Why?...well....because I just don't have any of that...I thought about using some quilt batting instead...but shoved that out of my mind just as quickly as it came in.

As I went along...going step by step as written...it all started to make sense...I got kinda excited that I was actually doing it...Lol!

Naturally....my excitement prompted me to list it on Ebay. I don't have a clue how much these things go for....or if they go at all. But I started it out at $12.99....good price? I don't know!

Just thought I'd share this.

First I want to say that I have tried several times...typing until my fingers bleed...LOL..and I STILL cannot leave a comment on peoples blogs....anyone know why that is? I was going to leave a comment on Pats blog...Kats Designs and several others...but gave up after 3 attempts...SO...what I am trying to say is...I am reading them...and I want to comment...but it is not allowing me to do so.

SO....Dinner tonight....MEXICAN FIESTA!!!...I love mexican food. And I think I would rather make it myself than pay to eat somewhere just for the atmosphere. And it is HONESTLY just as good if not better!!

Which reminds me...I once spent 3 days with my Aunt learning to make Tamales...I haven't made those in forever because they really do take about 2 days to make...I used to make them 5 dozen at a time...true story...they freeze nicely and my husband would take them for lunch...and I would give alot of them to friends who enjoyed them but didn't have the time to make them.

Tonite...on the menu is: *insert drumroll here*

Steak Fajitas with green, red and yellow peppers-Homemade Refried Beans-Mexighetti-Homemade Tortilla Chips-Homemade Salsa-Homemade Guacamole El reeeee bah!

The key ingredient I have found....ADOBO seasoning....yep....works for me...I put it in all of the dishes above mentioned! No I am not a marketing rep for Adobo...

And of course cilantro...I used to really hate the smell of it let alone the taste...but now...I use an entire bunch of it for the fajitas, a half a bunch for the salsa and the remainder in the guacomole! In fact...I love it so much...I am growing it in my garden!

Last Sunday...July 3rd...I tried to surpress a sneeze. I felt a sharp pinch in the left side of my neck...and it suddenly felt like I had slept on my pillow wrong. I had been awake quite awhile and just knew it was from trying to hold back that sneeze. I figured it would go away...like a crick in your neck usually does. Little did I know that 5 days later it would feel the same and the pain would travel down to my middle and ring fingers....with most of the pain being in my shoulder, neck and elbow. I finally decided to stop trying to suck it up and went to the Dr the day we were supposed to leave to go finish up the remodeling of the camper. The nurse practitioner gave me anti inflammatory pills along with steriods...woo hoo. The 3 hour ride to Tomah was unbearable. I used the "dogs blanket"...he NEVER uses it...so why let it just sit in the backseat....as a neck brace and kept repositioning my arm every 2 minutes. It was terrible. And I even wondered WHY I had gone to the doctor in the first place if I weren't going to see some sort of immediate relief? I mean...I told her I was popping Ibuprofen tablets 3 at a time and they just weren't cutting it! Why didn't she deem it necessary to give me some sort of pain medication? And I wanted the good stuff...not some 800 miligrams of tylenol! Which she didn't give me anyway! And I mentioned that we were going camping and hopefully have a day of pleasure to ride the wheelers. She suggested that I "Absolutely NOT ride any 4 wheelers"!! Boooo...way to ruin my weekend...surely I could ride one handed...afterall...the throttle is on the right side! So...by bedtime...the pain still hadn't gone away...and needless to say I kept my husband awake AND the dog...by tossing and turning in the camper! LOL! I swear I woke up every 2 hours to view the clock and turn over. I was up at 5:30AM making coffee and taking more pills. By midday...the left arm and neck area were starting to feel pretty good. Not 100% but good enough to help Randy and his Mom put down the new floor and ceiling in the bump out of the camper. Finished it! YAY! I helped move the couch back into its position in the bump out and threw my arm out YET AGAIN!! By the next morning...the arm was feeling 80%...and I decided I would help carry wood from the wagon to the side of the shed. Not just a piece at a time...oh no! I was carrying armloads of 10 pieces...just wanted to get it done y'know! Well...needless to say...I pinched the nerve again! Later that day...about noon...my husband decided we would just go home...since I couldn't seem to behave myself. And at least at home...I would just be sewing...how hard could that be to behave? I have been a good little sewer for the past 2 days...LOL! My arm is still NOT 100% and sleeping is still not a relaxing event...but I have not thrown it out since I have been back home. I have been concentrating on making a pumpkin head doll...and she is finally finished. I will be working on pattern for her soon.

My son is home from surgery...

Well...as I reported last...Ryan did not have cancer...or a tumor...it was a fluid build up. He had 3 options...live with it...and it would eventually swell to the size of an orange then a grapefruit...then a cantaloupe. Have it drained in the office...and within 3 months it could come back. Or have it surgically drained and the blockage removed. He opted for the removal. I was glad that he chose to do that. But what an ordeal he went thru.
He had the surgery yesterday...the day after the 4th of July. His surgery was supposed to begin at 8:45...so we had to be there for check in and prep by 6:45. He didn't eat or drink since after midnite.
We arrived there on time...it was a 45 minute drive to the hospital...and the Dr. had an emergency so we got sent home until our next arrival time of 10:30 with surgery scheduled at 12:30. We were once again on time....but surgery didn't happen until 1PM. Did I mention that this kid hadn't eaten or even had a sip of water since before midnite?...

I heard from the nurse that the minute he woke up in recovery...he asked where the nearest KFC was...LOL!! And that is exactly where I took him once he was released.
Of course he didn't go inside...he could barely walk. He is getting around a bit better today and I have fixed up the guest bedroom so that he is more comfortable than going downstairs to his room. I just don't think he is ready for stairs yet...unless they are equiped with a chair.

The doll to the left is what I worked on while waiting at the hospital. The anesthesiologist did a double take...asked me if that was a doll. LOL! I explained that I am not really good at the grungy black folk art dolls yet...but the effort is there. So...naturally, she and her little chicken and the basket of eggs are listed on Ebay.

I have named them "Had a Lil' Chicken" which for some reason...I was sitting at the hospital, stitching the chicken footprints...and putting the chicken pocket onto the apron...and THAT SONG popped into my head that my husband used to sing to the kids when they were little...IT WOULDN"T GO AWAY!! It lingered til this morning when she was finished...so I gave in...and named this set...and pattern Had a Lil' Chicken.... Below are the links to the doll and the pattern.

I am leaving for vacation tomorrow...and I won't be back until July 11th...so if you purchase the pattern for this set...I will be adding a bonus pattern to your envelope for waiting....my choice of course.

Today's DO list...and update on my son...

It looks like I may actually be able to mow today...maybe. Wednesday, I picked up the backyard...we have everything off the deck in an effort to waterproof and seal it...started this project last weekend...but of course it didnt get finished because that is when the rain began. So now the gazebo is off in one corner...the chairs are all under the big tree...the bench is under the smaller "Grandma" tree...and all the plants that are in the copper boilers are by the big bench....all "the boys" toys are tucked into the shed. I pulled the mower out of the shed on Wednesday and made it all the way to the side gate...in my attempt to mow the front yard first...and it started pouring!! I just left the mower there and ran inside....as if I got too wet I might melt. It hasn't really let up since then. Just misting rain most of the time...making the grass too nasty to mow. In fact...I hear a mower from my window now! And once again...it has clouded up...UGH...my lawn will be like a hay field by Saturday!! Not going to be a fun experience mowing...but then again...when is it? I used to enjoy mowing honestly....of course that was before the self propelled belt mechanism broke on this mower and my husband converted it to a PUSH MOWER...all I had to do was follow happily behind....it was great exercise...probably about a 3 mile walk! NOW...it requires effort to push the dang thing!
It is so cool here this morning...about 62 degrees...perfect for mowing. Well...if I cannot mow today...maybe I will have help on Saturday? Maybe I can hit some garage sales today instead!! That sounds like a better way to spend today than pushing some mower across the yard...LOL!!

I also want to mention that I appreciate all the thoughts and prayers people have been sending me for my son! I found out yesterday from the results of the ultrasound that it is NOT cancer! Yay!! It is a fluid build up! I can deal with that! I am going to google some answers as to how they get rid of that or what even causes it for that matter. I'm sure it will require some type of surgical procedure...

So thank you everyone for keeping him and his situation in your thoughts and prayers..it is appreciated more than you know!!

Siddalee & Teensie

Let's try this again shall we....yep...I had this all typed out...and ready to go...and bloooop....it was gone!!

Anyway....this is 28" Siddalee and her 12" baby Teensie. They are currently up for grabs on Ebay.

I had made a set similar to this last week and was asked when pattern would become available.

I liked the other set...but wanted to make a few changes to the nose on Siddalee...I really wasn't happy witht he "skinny" nose the other set had...and the clothing I wanted more of a homespun. So....I purchased this fabric to make my daughter some pillowcases for her NEW chenille bedspread in her Colonial bedroom...and purchased a bit more of it to create clothing for this set!

And I had to decide upon a name for this set. I have used up all the "family" names on various other dolls and decided upon these names.

It will most likely take me the usual 3 days to type up the instructions for this set.

Today I am off to babysit my grandson, Brody...in his NEW home!! So, I won't get anything done today...LOL!

I really miss being able to see him every day. They used to live just across town...but now it is a 20 minute drive to visit. Booooooo!!!!

SIDALEE & TEENSIE

Long time NO blog....

Yes, it seems as though it has been FOREVER since I last blogged.

And I am going to use the standard MANDATORY excuse of being busy!

I planted my garden on Mother's Day...and had to replant some things 2 weeks later. We had a cold snap and I think it just made things not want to come up....or I had bad seeds...

Even the Sweet Annie I tried my hand at planting this season has yet to show any signs of growth. I am thinking of going to the nursery to see if I can find some live plants. I would just love to have some to add to some dolls this fall/winter!!

I know this may be too much information...but I am genuinely concerned. My son has a growth on his testicle...they have ruled out a hernia...which is what I was thinking it may be. Tonite we go for an ultrasound and will know by Thursday if it is a fluid lump or cancer. I am really hoping it is not cancerous.

Anyone who is reading this...please say a silent prayer that the outcome will be good. Thank you!!!!!

Here is my new witch for fall 2011. I really love these round head dolls with the slated eyes. So realistic looking. And simple once you get the hang of it.

Thats right!! The carnival was in town this past weekend for the Milk Days Celebration!

This year...the boys went on every ride they were tall enough to ride.

And they even went by themselves on some of them....well....they went together without adult supervision!

Austin just won't let go of that BINKY ...even for a train ride!!

This photo reminds me of GREASE where Olivia Newton-John and John Travolta are taking off in the flying car at the end...LOL!!

They just couldn't figure out that the black bar they were holding onto actually made the bumble bee go up and down...

Brody was really excited to go on this one...it looks like he is saying...OOOOOhhhh YEAH!!

Been awhile since I last posted...

I have been busy...and yes...I know everyone says that..but I REALLY was!!

I have been painting like Picaso! Many things around the casa have fallen victim to my paint brush.

With the help of my daughter...who is a decorating genius by the way...has helped me paint my living room from a boring basic white/off white to a woodsy green and whisper of buttery yellow. It doesn't sound like the two colors would go well togethe...but it looks so homey not HOMELY...and inviting!

One room even took a dose of vanilla brandy on the walls and ceiling.

My kitchen is...well...a brownsh gold. We threw some brown into some gold and came up with a different gold tone to coordinate with the barn wood I have as wainscotting.

I have even painted my jelly cupboard a flat black and gave it a drybrushing of cinnamon for a grubby worn look. My daughters idea of course!
I really wanted to paint that old Hoosier...but hubby told me it would loose its value if I did...I said..."SO, WHO'S TRYING TO SELL IT?"
I am going to paint my kitchen chairs to match the jelly cupboard...and he was worried about that too! He said, "THAT'S GREAT!! EVERYONE WHO SITS AT THE TABLE WILL HAVE A BLACK BUM!"

I replaced my vintage metal bread box with a simple wooden tool carrier box...it is barn red and I think it may have to be painted mustard color...not sure on that yet.

Even my barstools got hit with a whammy of black paint...now to find the right fabric to reupholster the seats!

As you can see to the left...I have still found time to create a few dollies during my painting quest!

She is a 26" fancy folk art doll.

She is completely painted...Baked...sanded...stained...and baked again!

Included in the pattern is a recipe to mix up your own skin tone paint.

Included in pattern is my source for hair.

I haven't listed her pattern on Ebay just yet...but probably will by next week sometime.

I loved Talullah BEFORE she had hair....and absolutely love this side view photo of her.

New Lady Elaine with Blonde Braids....

Just listed a new Lady Elaine on Ebay last nite. This one has long blond raw wool hair that is pulled to both sides and braided.

Her eyes are a bit farther apart and placed more on a slant. I like them better this way.

She wears a trio of coordinating browns, gold, cream, beige, blue and green fabrics.

There are 8 photos of her within the listing.

Each braid is tied at the ends with sage green ribon which coordinates well with the green center of the dots.

She is trimmed at the sleeves, underskirt and bloomer legs with scalloped edge cluney lace.

Her hat as a grossgrain satin ribbon in deep chocolate...you will also notice it is also used as her waistband...and the hat has a large coordinating floral spray topped off with the chocolate ribbon bow in the center.

You can't see it in the photos...but her leg stripes are cream and chocolate and her shoes are chocolate too.

I am totally lovin the extreme prims

I have been busy making these extreme prim dolls. The first one is my own creation. I named them Prissy and Pork. I may even write up a pattern to them...

I had a hard time with that pig. I had to ask my husband if my pattern piece looked like a pig.

His answer....Nope...looks like a dog. UGH!! Back to the drawing board...he did tell me that the head was further down...and should be even with the front shoulders. So...I scrapped that piece of paper and ended up with this lil Pork.

I just think it is so exciting to see something go from a piece of paper....to fabric..and then to something that is 3-D....it amaze me all the time.

This is Opal....dangit....she looks scared!! But this one is my favorite...I loved making this one.

Pattern is by Olde Rustic Prims. I get my raw wool from her also...and she is right here in Illinois.

She has sisal rope hair that I drybrushed with black acrylic paint.

And my daughter couldn't have picked a better day to give me a baggie FULL of various buttons...PERFECT for mismatched eyes and vintage accent buttons on the bodice!

I drew up a melon slice for her to carry and tied it to her at her wrists with some jute rope.

Her dress is also a melon print and is a drop waist style.

2 NEW Bunnies for Easter

I just listed these new bunnies on Ebay last nite. I didn't realize how dark the ribbon looks in these photos. It really isn't that dark...just the lighting. The green ribbon is actually a sheer transparent ribbon. And it matches with the dark green in the center of the flowers on her dress.

She has a massive floral spray on the side of her hat...and her neck ruffles have more flounce!

What will I make when Easter has passed? I will miss making these bunnies.

This one done in a blue tonal paisley also has a massive floral spay on her hat. This one is the one I would keep if I could. She is my favorite bunny so far.....

I love her fabric...love her leg stripes...and I like the laces I gave her up her boots rather than the rusty jingle bells! She too has more ruffle flounce at her neck.

Parting with this one is gonna HURT!!

I wonder if whom ever wins her auction will allow me visitation? LOL!!

Just finished another Lady Elaine!! I think this one looks sad...or angry...not sure which or why...LOL!

I won this raw wool from an ebay auction and could hardly wait to use it.

The color is chocolate nougat...LOVE IT... I think it is pretty neat how the tips are a blonde tone and are rippled.

This lady is done in a chocolate with multicolr polka dot bodice and matching hat. Her dress skirt is a pink, sage, and cream paisley. The under skirt is a coordinating tiny floral print.

I had ran out of satin ribbon and went digging in the cabinet for anything I could use. I found a brand new spool of white sheer satin ribbon in there...

I had to tea stain it to make it match with the fabrics... It is at her waist and at her hat band.

The sleeves, bloomers and underskirt are trimmed in a jute mesh ribbon. Her hat band is also the jute mesh ribbon.

I am working on another rabbit~Henrietta Hare this evening...YAY...I love those....I am thinking of using the chocolate and teal stripe with yet another polka dot print for the rabbit...NOTHING says Easter like Polka Dots...LOL!!

Nellie Jo and Grungy Baby Bunny

All day yesterday...while it rained and the winds whipped outside...I sat and drew up pattern for Nellie Jo and her Grungy baby bunny.

She is 26" tall...which was larger than I had initially wanted her to be...but....she is actually a nice size afterall. Her baby bunny is 14".

I gave her a seperate nose and mouth piece that was added to her face once everything was painted and grunged.

I actually like making this type of doll too. And honestly...if you would have asked me about Black Folk Art grungy dolls about a month ago...I would have told you I WOULD NEVER make them.

It is weird how my tastes have been changing lately. And it isn't because this type of doll is easier to make...THEY ARE NOT!! I just think they have SO much character... I will still make the Annie type dolls....but...I think these will become a staple in my desire to create. And I may even type up pattern to this one also.

I love digging thru the fabric stash and actually FINDING enough of something to work with.

Yes, after much digging...I found this teal Easter Chick print from last year...I never cut into it. Just stashed it away in the craft room along with the coordinating teal with white polka dot print. YAY!! What a scavenger hunt!

And as a bonus...I found enough coordinating prints to work nicely with the Easter print! BONUS!!

Now mind you....I did make a trip to the fabric store to buy more fabric....I think I may need therapy!

But the clothing for this one was already cut out before I left the house!

So...when I returned home, all I had to do is stitch it up!

I finished her at 10:15 last nite....photographed her....and was just about to put her on Ebay....when I realized I had forgotten her whiskers!

YIKES!!!

A whiskerless rabbit! So...all those photos were deleted and I went to bed! I rephotographed her this morning with whiskers added!

She is so bright and colorful! She looks like she could jump up and do a jig.

And once again...I LOVE HER!!

I just wish I would allow myself to keep just one...but I don't...in fact...I have NOTHING in my home that I have personally created...weird right?

Ooops I did it again! I just can't stop wanting to make these big OOAK dolls. I am going out this afternoon to purchase MORE fabric to make MORE....LOL!!!

I love working with the raw wool...I love needle felting it to the head! In fact...now that I think about it....I love everything about making these dolls.

Unbelievable...but true...I get excited to see how they will turn out.

This wool was/is AMAZING...it was longer than I had anticipated.

At first I had it just stringing down from atop her head....but it looked too....well....stringy....for lack of a better word.

So....I pulled it to the side...and braided it just to see how it would look.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT.

She reminds me of a lady you would see walking down the streets of some cowboy movie with a bustle on her bum bum.

Of course she is listed on Ebay....and I once again went overboard with photos of her...I just can't stop!

More finished dolls up for grabs....

Last nite I finished a set of raggedies made from the Yankee Doodles Raggedy pattern available on the sidebar and an Irish Annie made from the Be Mine Annie pattern also available on the side bar.

Hubby didn't get home last nite til 8:30....so I just continued working on dolls all evening.

I didn't even have to make dinner! He stopped and got fast food...LOL!!

This raggedy set is made from a barn red and cream mini check and a multicolor patchwork print.

I love this patchwork print and have used it several times before. When I saw it in the clearance bin....along with the check....I should have purchased the remainder of the bolt...but didn't....

I love how they look in this fabric!! They are just dancing right off the page!!

I also decided to make one last Irish lass from the Be Mine Annie pattern.

I was never a big fan of green....but I have to admit...for the past 2 years this St. Patricks fabric has really grown on me!

Her little heart is a stitchery pillow that reads...KISS ME I'M IRISH.

This is the doll I worked on yesterday. Her name is Mazie. She looks less mad than the other one I did about a week ago. The first thing my husband said when he saw my attempt at a black folk art doll was..."Who is she mad at?"

But...I didn't let that comment stop me...I still loved every inch of her.

Then...my daughter...who very much LOVES primitives...the dirtier and grungier the better...tells me..."She looks really MAD!"

Uuuuuuuuuugh! So, I thought...Okay...maybe it was the painted eyes that made her look so angry with the world? So, I worked on this one and made the eyes differently. They are stitched with black and white crochet thread.

She doesn't look mad at all...and that is confirmed by my husband...LOL!!!

And now I have got the black folk art doll bug. I like painting these dolls....I like sculpting their faces...I like painting the large lips...but I didn't like working with that cheesecloth!!!

I think it adds a nice touch to her apron...and I really wanted to make a headband for her out of it...but it was hard for me to use it...I think that I may be just making it harder than it should be...

My daughter uses it alot...in fact she is the one who gave me a bit of it to use on my dolls. I think I will stain the remainder of it and just allow it to dry and try using it that way.

Why do I have to make things so difficult for myself? Hahaha!

Well...here is what I have been working on since I woke up this morning. Actually, I started on her yesterday evening and had to finish up this morning.

I absolutely love making these big dolls! I think I like making them more than the non traditional raggedies. They just come out really nice! Alot more work...but the outcome is worth the extra time and effort!

She is identical to Lady Elaine that I posted about below this post.
Except for the fact that she is a Easter Bunny who loves to wear chocolate!

I did the dress a bit differently on this one...it is open in the front to expose an underskirt. This was much easier to do...but took more time.

She is also 27" tall.

Her hat is a chocolate brown with black swirl print...with a matching hat bad and florals on the side....with a big brown sheer bow to top it all off.

I even gave her teal leg stripes and 4 rusty jingle bells up her brown booties.

And lets not leave out the whiskers that are sewn into her painted muzzle.

I can hardly wait until my raw wool arrives so I can do another Lady Elaine with blonde hair!

I just HAVE TO share...

I have been just dying to make one of these folk art OOAK dollies. I always loved art classes in high school...and I actually took as many of them as I could. I actually got to put my art classes to good use today. And yes...this doll took me most of the day to finish...I actually started on her yesterday.

I named her Lady Elaine...in honor of my mother in law. Yes...I actually get along quite well with my MIL and always have. She is a sweet sweet lady!

Lady Elaine is 27" tall from the top of her hat to the tip of her pointy toe booties.

Now granted I probably should have given her a little bouquet of flowers to hold...but I was just so excited to be finished with her that I didn't give her anything but a photoshoot...LOL!

And she behaved quite ladylike...She could easily be Americas Next Top Model...she took direction well.

Of course I have listed her on Ebay and there are a total of 9 photos of her...I just couldn't stop!

Blizzard 2011~My backyard drifts~

This 1st photo shows a car that was abandoned in the middle of the street sometime before 10PM last nite. Hubby and I had gone just 4 blocks to a friends house and after getting out of his driveway and onto our street...we saw something dark amidst the blizzard...a car...no one in it...they just left it. It was still there this morning at 8AM.

Hubby decided to bust out the snow blower...LOL...now mind you it is in the shed in the backyard...yep...that is the shed in the bottom photo in the bottom right corner. He had to snowblow thru the backyard...then thru the gate...see photo in the middle...around the side of the garage...and then out into the driveway.

I am not kidding....some of these drifts are 8ft tall. Both of the entrance doors to the house were blocked by 4ft snow drifts. Hubby had to open the storm door in the front several times before he had an opening large enough to get thru to get to a shovel.

Currently...our road is a one lane...and the main road isn't much better. The highway isn't plowed at all...not even one lane is open and that was at noon!! This is crazy!

Did I mention how much I hate snow?

Rumor of a Blizzard....NOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooo

Yes...that is what I just read on the weather channel....UGH....MAKE IT STOP!!! It is supposed to start snowing here in Northern Illinois Monday afternoon at 3PM and continue until 3PM on Tuesday.....but it doesn't stop there...it continues to snow more and then the winds pick up! AAAARRRrrrrgggghhhh! Drifting snow into 4-8 foot drifts! ReedonkUlus!

Maybe that will help keep me inside....well, I know it will! I don't venture out AT ALL when it is snowing. In fact, I hate driving when there is snow on the roads...PERIOD. I get too nervous!

But, on a happier note. I have finished alot of dolls over the past few days since hubby has been away ice fishing. YAY!! Here are some photos of what is up for grabs on Ebay.

I swore up and down that I wasn't going to make these little $10 Annies anymore....but there is just something about them that makes me continue to do them. I went thru my fabric stash on Saturday morning and came across some leftover pieces from a custom order awhile ago...the cow print and the pantry print...I just couldn't toss them out...there was too much of them to get rid of...so...$10 doll clothing! And I really really like those stitched faces. If those would sell good for me....I would much rather do them than all that painting and shading...LOL!

First up...my new pattern #139 Krista Lynn. She is a combination of 2 other dolls. I recently made a few custom creations for my scarecrow doll Sydney. Sydney has rope hair and wears a hat....and once I finished the last one...I was looking at her and thought...hmmmm....with a different head....and some hair...she would make one beautiful Annie. And thus...the birth of Krista Lynn.
She is 18" of pure cuteness!! I had recently made a custom breast cancer awareness doll for another customer who wanted pink hair on that doll....so...Krista Lynn recieved some of that remaining pink hair that matched really well with this fabric I found on the clearance rack...which I usually never check....but for some reason that day...I did and found these two fabrics that really worked well of each other. She is listed and up for grabs on Ebay. The pattern is on my selling blog, Etsy, Ebay and PatternMart.

And I finished another of the Be Mine Annies, but done in pinks, last nite. She is listed and up for grabs on Ebay.
I was all out of the doilys for her collar....so I made one out of warm and natural with a blanket stitch all the way around it. I actually think I like the handmade collar best! Wish I would have done that for the pattern. I wanted to give her brown hair...but I just couldn't resist using red hair with pink clothing. It truly is a myth that redheads shouldn't wear pink.

Baby, It's Cold Outside.....

Well, after 2 weeks of nursing my hand...it is back to normal. I don't know what I did to it...I think I may have pulled some muscles in it or something...but it really slowed me down....and I get bored easily when I am not making something. It hurt so badly it was hard to hold a pair of scissors...UGH!! I couldn't stand it...so I went out and purchased a pair of scissors that are recommended by the arthritis foundation....SERIOUSLY!! And a glove that is tight on your hand but allows your fingers to dangle out of it....I felt like busting out a Michael Jackson moonwalk when I was wearing this thing. All I needed was a bit of glitter on this gold glove!

Anyway....it is soooooooo cold here this morning...I think we even had a light dusting of the white stuff last nite. I am soooo done with winter! Enuf is enuf!

Thought I would post up my new addition to the Etsy shoppe. Bottom photo of Hayden and Iggy. Just listed this set on there this morning. Maybe it is too early for Bunnies? But this is a wonderful little set. More springy in appearance than Easter looking.

My 100th post...NEW PATTERN

Well....I finally had time to type up the instructions for pattern #137 Here Kitty Kitty just this morning.

My grandson is not here this morning....so it is more quiet...thus I can think better...LOL!!

I have listed her on Ebay and I have her listed on PatternMart also. I am a new seller on the PatternMart site. Hopefully that goes well...I really like that site and have purchased many e-patterns from there. UNFORTUNATELY...I do not know how to make my patterns e-patterns...LOL...so I am selling them on

PatternMart as mailed patterns also. And they are cheaper on PatternMart. Not so many fees and stuff. Someday I will become computer smart....but don't hold your breath. I'm not. This is the only pattern I have listed there so far. I will add more over the weekend. It is a very easy to use site so far. Thank goodness!

I am also listing her in my Etsy Shoppe...later today. So she is making quite a debut in just a matter of hours...LOL!

I have finished these dolls in the last few days or so...they are listed on Ebay.

This top photo is my new doll...Here Kitty Kitty. I am going to work on the pattern instructions today....if I can. She has been finished since Sunday!

She is about 18" tall wearing a paisley print dress. Over top she wears a pink and white gingham check apron which is decked out with rick rack trim and buttons near the bottom. She comes complete with her Kitty named Kat.

I have 4 of them listed and will be working on 4 more as soon as I finish 2 of those ROUND HEAD DOLLS that gave me so many gray hairs just last week.
Yep...I am still having difficulty...but I have tweeked the pattern for the clothing just a bit. But the head.....STILL doesn't attach so easily!
I even made the neck knob larger...UGH! And

I really like the way the doll looks once finished. A lady custom ordered one done in Breast Cancer Awareness fabric and pink hair.

Trying something NEW....

Well...I decided just before Christmas to treat myself to a pattern that I had saved to my "watch list" for quite some time....one of those round head dolls. Oh my goodnes...what a frustrating experience for me! Either that or I just wasn't catching onto the limited instructions...LOL! I had sewn up 2 heads for these dolls...gave them identical faces....well, as close to identical as I could...and I just felt like the opening for the neck was too large...so I gathered it up a bit before trying to put it on the neck knob...which I thought was too small...LOL! I got so frustrated with this head that I cut it off....it was just not going on right...and I couldn't seem to get it on the neck properly. I yanked all the stuffing out of them both and thought....maybe I had just sewn them together wrong....so I made 2 more heads...LOL...while the other two still layed on the coffee table. I stuffed one of them....and realized I HAD NOT sewn them wrong....these 2 were the same as the 1st 2...with the same large opening at the bottom....UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not sure if I am cut out for the intense pressure I was feeling from these NOW 4 HEADS.... So...I gathered up the bottoms again....placed them on the teeny tiny neck knob.....and began attaching it....around and around the neck....I made 2 laps around the neck.....WHEW!! And it didn't look bad....at least it was connected...and not wobbly....kinda crooked...but I felt that would give her character....a wonderous look....as if she were saying..."HUH?" Kinda like what I must have looked like once the head was completed. LOL! Anyway....here are the pics of my very first round head dolls....not sure about those other 2 heads I have....one is finished...one isn't even stuffed...but maybe now that I ALMOST know what I am doing....I will make 2 more of these....?...

Yes, I am still at it. These are the 5 dolls I have listed the past 2 days. AND I am working on a homespun Raggedy Set tonite and hopefully I will have them listed by Friday or dare I say...Christmas day?

I have 2 of the Beth dolls listed and 3 of the $10 dolls.

I really don't have alot to do this year to ready myself for Christmas.

I have to bake some pies. And that is about it.

But we aren't going to be here for Christmas. Friday we are going across town to Courtney's house and then Christmas Day we will be going to Reedsburg WI to my Mother in laws.

We rotate where Christmas will be each

year. Last year it was here.

I actually like doing it that way.

Less stressful!

Just listed this morning 4 more of the "$10 dolls" on ebay! I am just going to continue to make these little darlin's throughout the holidays.

Maybe even go thru the stash to see what I can find for Valentine's Day fabrics. Not sure if I saved any from last year....but there is hope....Fingers Crossed!

This first cutie is made from a collection of pinks and browns. I made "twins" for my daughter to give to her sister-in-law for Christmas. Katie, the sister in law, does have twin girls. They turned out so darn cute that I made 2 more with this fabric but gave one of them brown hair. The first one is called Pink Paisley.

The second one is called
brown polka dot.

This 3rd one is done is a golden tonal floral leaf print with a coordinating brown floral dress skirt.

And last but certainly not least...this one is done is a blue tonal floral bocide with a yellow and cream mini check with tiny blue floral dress skirt. I especially like this one...I don't know if it is the way she sat for the photo...or the colors. I just love her!

Seriously....that not too many people blog anymore. Granted....I haven't written anything since Thanksgiving...but....honest....I have reason!
My daughters home show/open house was pretty good. I really didn't have much to sell....some ornies and some pillows...about 5 dolls and a big Santa. I sold some things...but the remainder of the items hit Ebay by Sunday nite and early Monday mornin'. She did well with her soy melts, candles, and painted snowman cans. And the big hit was puppy chow....that's right...puppy chow. The sweet sensation that is made from chex cereal. LOL!!
She even did well at her show here in town. I never did! But...I did manage to sell one more pillow and a few more dolls. I think if I had more time to do shows....I might do well again. But apparently I like busting my hump for ebay....LOL!
I did manage to type up the pattern for the Winter Friends Trio which is photo'd below this blog. It is listed in my Etsy shoppe and on Ebay. I could probably put it as a buy it now here on the sidebar with a button....and perhaps I will do that later this evening or tomorrow morning. Well....I have to think about something to make for dinner....it is 3:17 and I still haven't laid anything out. Hubby has a board members club meeting tonite...so I really don't have to make anything. There is a leftover chicken pot pie in the fridge he can take for lunch tomorrow. Anyway.....get to postin all my bloggin friends.....I love to read and comment... AND I LOVE COMMENTS TOO Y'KNOW....

Well....there is no time like the present to put off what you will scramble to finish tomorrow...That is my motto....or at least how I operate. Yes...tis true. I should have made that chocolate cream pie today....but I didn't. I should have dried out my bread for stuffing....but I didn't. I could have gotten things ready for the Cheesy Broccoli and Rice Casserole....you guessed it....I DIDN"T!

So you are probably wondering what I did manage to do today? Well....I finished my Winter Friends Trio....which pattern will soon be available for...LOL! Oh...and I finished up some stitchery pillows that were lying around for.....uhm....about 2 years...no kidding! I don't even know who actually designed these stitcheries they are so old. I did them for my daughters open house/craft show this Friday and Saturday. If they do not sell at her show....I will be listing them on Ebay and talking about them here....naturally! This is a spin off post thanks to Pat from Ahl Cooped Up who jolted my memory, this morning, back to our very first "REAL" Christmas tree.....and last.
We had decided that year....the kids were old enough...so let's all pile into the Chevy S10 and head up to the Christmas Tree Farm. They had advertised cut your own trees for only $30...so we figured it would be a great adventure and memory for the kids to not only pick out a tree for the livingroom...but to actually help cut it down.
So, we all bundled up. It was very cold and windy that day yet we all braved the weather and walked thru the masses of planted trees to pick out our very first real tree.
Once you get out into the plantings....it is hard to visualize just the size you want. We didn't bring a tape measure....so we had to rely on our own height compared to the tree. We had been given a saw from the owner of the farm to cut down the tree. The kids were so cold they didn't even want to help....LOL...and I was shivering and just wanted it over.
So...my husband cut down the tree and carried it up to where we had parked. He loaded it into the back of the S10 and we were headed home with the heater blasting.
Now...bear in mind that there are 4 of us riding in that S10...car seats weren't mandatory back then...so my youngest wasn't in one....I think he was 3 or 4 which would make my daughter 7 or 8. Ryan, was standing in the front seat....looking out the back window at the tree...while Courtney sat right next to me. He started jumping. So I told him he needed to sit down....and then I looked out the back window and noticed that the wind was beginning to catch the tree branches. My husband had put it into the bed of the truck backwards....with the top of the tree towards the front. And just as I began to say...."Uhm....the tree is catching some wind..." it flew out of the back! Then I just said...."And there it goes!" and I began laughing as the tree went into the road, and rolled like a tumbleweed, then ended up resting in the ditch. My husband didn't think it was as funny as the kids and I thought....for some reason. He stopped and backed the truck up to retrieve the tree from the ditch. He loaded it up into the back of the truck bed again....the RIGHT WAY. As he got back into the vehicle I said..."That was a great trick! I'll bet that knocked off all the loose needles!" Then he thought it was funny!
There were alot of broken branches near the bottom of the tree....but it was fine....there was just more room to put presents beneath it. I will never forget that "REAL" tree...

I actually made 2 of these...almost identical. I am saving one of them for the Craft Show/Open House on the 26th and 27th....I promised!

CANDY CANE ANNIES

Just listed these 2 Candy Cane Annies....a pattern by Sandy from Olde Country Cupboard. I just can't get enough of this dollie and the I love Gingerbread one either for that matter. I love doing the stitched faces for some reason...LOL!

So....these 2 are of course listed on Ebay.

They are slightly different. A bit of difference in the face...and the ponytail bows are different. They both wear the same homespun plaid dress in green, barn red, and cream.

I have even given them little prim tags around their necks!

The Big Fat Patches Santa's are almost finished....they have taken me a bit longer than I anticipated due to my decision to do a bit more hand stitching to make their trim pop! Never again! I should have them finished before the end of the day....and of course I will make yet another post about it...LOL!

Olde Vintage Annies

I have sewn up 4 more of these little 14" Olde Vintage Annies. And they are part of the $10 doll listings.....where else....Ebay...LOL!

This first one is the remainder of the red and off white check print.

The 2nd one wears a burgundy and sage green leaf on cream background print dress.

I really love this red, green and cream homespun plaid...found it in my stash while looking for some fall print to do a custom order scarecrow for someone.

And this last one in a red floral on cream.

I love doing these old looking dollies with stitched faces. Soooooo much easier than painting...LOL!! And they are equally as cute!

Right now I am working on 2 big fat Patches Santa's for ebay....they will be dressed in a barn red and cream homespun plaid.... And I am doing 2 of the Candy Cane Annies from Olde Country Cupboard....I love that dollie....but I am giving her a completely handstitched face.

New Elf and Santa's Favorite Cookie

Yep...where else....Ebay...LOL! I just had to....I think I will end up oweing them a lock of hair from my first born by the end of the month...hahaha!
I had to do another Ralphie...some one requested one...so there he is...a bit different...in burgundy...to maintain that one of a kind feel.

And I did one of my old designs...Santa's Favorite Cookie...but with a painted nose...AND I used a gingerbread cookie ornie from Sandy's pattern "I love Gingerbread" just for added eye appeal. She turned out nicely. To view more photos...you can click HERE and HERE to go to Ebay.

Angel Lush Dessert~

Now granted this is not a photo of the cake that I made...but it is similar.

My mom gave me this recipe...she makes it for my dad who is diabetic...so am I. It is easy and VERY simple. I think I will make it to take to Thanksgiving this year. I "frost" the entire outer area of this cake...not just the layers. And it is so good it doesn't need the strawberries on top...I think they are just for edible decoration.

1 pkg. 10oz round Angel Food Cake (premade from your bakery) Sometimes I can find them sugar free!
1 can crushed pineapple in natural juice, UNDRAINED
1 pkg. 3.5 oz Jello instant pudding, Vanilla Sugar-Free
1 pkg. Sugar Free Cool Whip

Cut angel food cake into 3 layers using a serated knife. Mix together Pineapple and pudding. Stir in Cool Whip...this is your frosting. Place bottom layer of cake on a plate...or leave it on the little black thing it comes in...Frost this first layer allowing some of the "frosting" to fall down the sides. Place on center layer...frost this layer allowing some to fall down the sides. Place on top layer and frost. Now using the remainder of the frosting...frost the outer layers of the cake.

I refrigerate this cake and allow it to set up for about 4 hours before serving. It is probably my favorite cake....so light and Low in sugar!!

Craft Shows...Open House...New Babies...

I am sitting here and literally starving! I can hear my stomach rumbling and I feel it too. And I am thinking about Thanksgiving. And honestly...I can hardly wait!! LOL!! We are having Thanksgiving at my daughter Courtney's house. And right after all the guests/family leave...we have to begin set up for her VERY FIRST Open House Craft show. We have 5 crafters....YAY!! Not bad for something that we thought up during a boring craft show on Saturday. It will be a 2 day event....beginning at 9AM on BLACK FRIDAY of all things....and run again on Saturday at the same times...9AM-5PM. It will be set up botique style and have a central checkout! I am looking forward to this also...but it is hard not to list dolls on ebay and save them for her show...LOL!!

I finished 3 dolls over the weekend...woot woot! Another of Sandy's patterns from Olde Country Cupboard...and 2 more of the "NAMELESS" doll...hahaha. Maybe I will just call her Megan? Or Heather? She desperately needs a name.

The first one is I LOVE GINGERBREAD done in a brown, gold and green homespun plaid and she carries 2 little gingerbread cookies...mmmmmm....still hungry!

The next one is done in a Santa's and Reindeer print apron with a gold swirl and holly leaf print dress.

And finally....my favorite one....just look at that attitude on her face...she is adorable!

She wears a muted red tonal with red and gold polka dot dress....and a penguin patchwork print apron.

Crankin out the dollies....Newly listed this morning...

I tell ya....I am in some sort of serious doll making mode...LOL! I finished these two "lovelies" just this morning...and put them on Ebay..where else?

This 1st cutie is done in red with gold and black christmas trees. This fabric almost has a velvety touch to it...really nice. She wears a poinsetta print apron atop. Her eyes are a bit "glammed up" for the holidays with just a hint of apple green eyeshadow...I think it makes her eyes just POP!!

This little one is dressed in a pale blue with brown polka dots. And her apron is a simply irresistable monkey print! I love it! Now if she only had a little sock monkey to go with...Hmmmm?.... She is also "glammed up" with a bit of blue eyeshadow...

These 2 babies are a perfect 14" size...small ...yet big
on personality!!

Ralphie the Elf~NEW~

New for this holiday season is Ralphie the Elf...I named him Ralphie after my father in law who passed away a year ago....and for my own father with the same name. In fact...I used to call my father in law Ralphie...or Pops...and my husband calls my dad Ralphie...weird!

This guy is 23" tall and stained with a blend of coffee and tea for a perfectly prim skin tone. He wears a black shirt featuring peppermints, stockings filled with candy canes, and gift packages. He wears a green vest with snowflakes stitched down the front sides of his vest. There are also 4 rusty jingle bells attached to the front with lacing in between them. I have added a prim tag to his neck with his name on it and on the back of the tag it reads...Pattern Cover Doll....Kats Country Prims...Kat Kosch...11-9-10. His pants are a coordinating stripe. His booties are also green with 6 points on each bootie...each point has a rusty jingle bell and a snowflake stitched above it.

Pattern will soon be available for Ralphie as soon as I get it typed up....I am sooooooo excited!!!

I absolutely love how Ralphie turned out....and I hope you do too!

~NEW~Simply Courtney Finished Dolls up for grabs...

Yesterday, I finished these two 23" Simply Courtney dolls made from my pattern for this doll which you can find within my ebay, etsy or sellingblog listings.

These 2 are done in holiday fabrics. The 1st one wears a black blouse featuring packages, snowflakes, candy canes, christmas trees and stockings filled with candy canes. Her skirt is a coordinating stripe featuring the same items.

I have cut out a NEW elf design...spent most of the evening drawing him onto paper. I will be working on him today...and hopefully be finished by tomorrow! The doll with no name...LOL!

I LOVE GINGERBREAD

Just finished this vintage looking Annie last nite! I was very excited to work on this dollie. In fact, the minute I finshed the raggedy set below...I started right in on her. She is another one of the patterns that I won awhile back from Sandy...The Olde Country Cupboard. And again...I must say I loved doing this little gal! Of course my rendition isn't identical to Sandys...but similar.

I just loved these little gingerbread men...HOW FUN!!
I love that the dress is just a one piece. Very simple...and I love simple!

Here is a bit about this doll.

She is approx. 23" tall. Made from muslin and stained for a realistic skin tone.

Her dress is a burgundy, navy and cream homespun check with 2 buttons at chest. I have created a grubby prim tag which proclaims her love for gingerbread. Her apron is grubby stained and I have stitched in red I LOVE GINGERBREAD. Apron waist straps bow tie in the back...shoulder straps loop around back of neck. I have given her grungy stained bloomers beneath her ensemble.
Her legs have traditional stripes. Her hair is a raggedy red tone wool with matching bows tucked in between bundles. Her face is completly hand stitched with button eyes.

Oh and the gingerbread "cookies"...not really cookies at all...stained muslin...LOL!

SNOWMAN RAGGEDY SET

I have been a busy busy girl! I just finished this snowman print with a light blue with white snowflake contrasting fabric this morning....of course they are listed on Ebay...LOL!

All my dollies are more non traditional raggedies...I think the only thing that makes them raggedies is perhaps the noses.

Annie even has a bit of blue "eyeshadow" for a positively glamorus look.

They both have little round metal edge prim tags proclaiming their love for each other...I ♥ Andy and I ♥ Annie...respectively.

They are 14" tall...a good size...small enough to fit anywhere yet large enough to be visible.

Andy's hat is not attached to his head and may be placed upon his head any way you like.

Just Listed Patches Santa....

I just finished and listed a Patches Santa on Ebay....and I almost gave the option of a "Buy It Now" item...but decided not to. This big fat guy is 31" tall. He is dressed in a red poinsetta print with warm and natural trim....and of course patches...10 of them in all. Each patch has a white button hand tied to the center. His face is hand painted, shaded and sealed...and this one is even signed and dated by me.

I really had no idea that people actually looked for a signature...but they do!

Anyway...gotta finish the Christmas Raggedy set...their clothes are all sewn up...so they need to get dressed. I have done them in a blue snowflake and snowman print...should be cute...we shall see.

~NEW~Ten Dollar Dollies

I don't know why I refer to them as "Ten Dollar Dolls" because they are closer to $11...LOL! But I do enjoy making these 14" cuties. They are just the right size..small enough to fit anywhere..but large enough to be seen!

First is the last piece of the Let It Snow fabric with a golden leaf on cream as the bodice. I love these crooked smiles...looks like they have a bit of attitude going on...LOL!

Second one is done in a creamy beige with floral tonal bodice and a rich brown floral dress skirt.

This 3rd one is done in the remainder of the Gingerbread man fabric. I just loved how the plaid worked with the gingerbread print...it is so bright and cheery!

Now this 4th one is exhibiting some attitude...like she really didn't want to be photographed...but was good enough to sit patiently while I finished...hahaha. She wears some of the Christmas tree fabric with a muted red tonal with snowflake print.

To the left is my rendition of a pattern by Sandy from Olde Country Cupboard. I finally got around to cutting this one out and making her. I won 10 patterns from Sandy quite awhile back...this is the first one I have attempted. I love her...she was a very simple pattern..I LOVE simple! I have her listed on Ebay right now.

I also listed the next 2 cuties...brought back Simply Courtney for the holidays...I miss making this dollie...she was one of my favorites.
The first one wears a gingerbread man skirt and I made a little gingerbread to go along with her.

The 2nd one is done in a blue snowman/snowflake print...very pretty fabric. She carries a resin snowman that is looped onto her arm. It is removable and can be used anywhere.

As I stated in my last post....I was working on some Elves for Ebay. (I seriously need to get a website) Well, I am finally finished. Actually I finished yesterday...right on schedule. But rather than post the photos of them yesterday...I went shopping with my daughter Courtney...of Courtney's Country Cottage! Nope...it was not a day filled with fabric shopping or searching for supplies....we went grocery shopping...and to Gander Mountain (of all places).

Now granted this is indeed the same pattern...and made at the same time....and made by me....however...these 2 elves look completely different... This bottom one has larger eyes....don't ask me how?....I don't know....LOL! Their hair color is slightly different and their knickers are a different homespun plaid....

HOMESPUN RAGGEDY SET

Yesterday I finished a set of Raggedies made from the Yankee Doodle Raggedies pattern designed by me which is available to purchase on Ebay, Etsy and here on my selling blog.

This set is done in rich burgundy, navy and cream homespun plaids! I just love this set and had to share some photos of them here on my blog!

It was so blustery here yesterday...rainy and windy...I had to resort to photographing inside on the old Hoosier cabinet! The photos turned out nice, but I much prefer natural lighting outdoors!

I have also listed another non-traditional Annie....not sure what to call this doll that I have been selling for quite awhile now. I need a name for her...Hahaha! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated....then maybe I could turn her into pattern. For some reason, I am drawing a blank. Go figure!

Currently I am working on 2 elves. Eddy the Raggedy Elf who is also available in my pattern listings here on my selling blog, ebay and etsy. He is the elf that holds a candy cane and has the innocent look about him. I will post photos of him when I get them finished....hopefully by tomorrow....but don't hold your breath....I have laundry to do today and that will cut into my on the couch sewing time...LOL!

The photos of the other doll...the one that needs a name....turned out so badly that I didn't even want to post one...LOL! But that is her at the top of the post. I need to try to venture outside this morning and rephoto her...but even today appears to be gloomy and windy...and the deck is still wet. I don't want her to blow away and have to chase her about the yard. LOL!

Currently up on Ebay....are these 3 cuties! The first one is my non-traditional version of a more up-to-date Raggedy Annie. I enjoy doing this type of eye and giving her a more "glam" look.

The 2nd Annie is a more traditional Annie with a completely hand stitched face. Even her hair style is different! And YES, she does have a full head of hair. I have actually enjoyed creating this type of doll too. Change is good...so they say. This one is decked out in a red and cream check with red rick rack near the bottom of her dress skirt.

And finally the 3rd dollie is similar to the 2nd dollie. She too has a completely hand stitched face. This one wears a red floral dress. I love this print...it is so simple....reminds me of the old redwork items. They are all 3 on ebay as of yesterday.

New Blog & Memories of Craftshow Past

Yes, today I will be helping my daughter create a blog. I will post a link to her blog once I have it set up. She desperately needs an outlet for her creativity. She makes grubby decorative candles and is really quite good at it. She makes many other items as well. Scented melts, salt dough gingerbreadmen ornies, orange slices with homespun ties to hang on the tree...and they smell wonderful...etc etc. Sometimes I think she is more creative than me...LOL! Honestly!
She isn't much of a sewer...can't sew a straight line to save her soul...but what she lacks is the sewing department...she makes up for in the candle and scented melts department.

Yesterday, I ventured out with her to a local craft show at the County College. I quickly remembered why I had stopped doing that show. And another craft show going on in that town didn't help for a good turn out either. LOL!

I do, however, remember when that show was good. Back in the late 90's and early 2000 when Kim....my friend from Old Bag Designs...and I would share a booth. The show was the last one of the season...the first weekend in December...(and now it has been moved up to October?) The show would begin at 10AM and we would have ladies lined up within the booth with multiple items in their arms. We couldn't ring them up and bag the items fast enough. And this would usually last for the first 3 hours! It was AMAZING!! I really miss those days! And I also miss doing shows with Kim! (Hope you read this Kimmy) You could always count on her to make any boring moments laughable...due to her lack of sleep from trying to finish that last doll that she just KNEW was going to sell.....and usually didn't. LOL! About the only thing that I don't miss about doing shows is loading, unloading, setting up...tearing down, loading and reloading back into the garage...Hahaha! True Story! It is alot of work...and I think towards the last year of my craft show days I had finally gotten a large rolly cart so that only one trip from truck to booth was necessary. And before that....I enlisted the help of both my children to carry boxes and crates to the designated area. It had gotten to the point that just the mere mention of "craft show" would send them running to phone a friend to stay the night somewhere else so they didn't have to help...LOL! I totally prefer being able to list my dollies for sale on ebay, etsy and even here on the blog...the weather is better here....and the only thing I have to lift is myself out of the chair.

New Dollies...?...

Well of course there will be new dollies....as long as my foot will still reach the peddle of the sewing machine and as long as I can still see to thread the needle.
In the bottom photo...little cutie with raggedy red hair...I was trying out a new hairstyle. I like it...she looks adorable with bundled ponies and a headband! With her eyes peering off to the side.
I have been going a bit overboard with the Christmas prints...LOL! But, there is no time like the present to purchase new, available prints! It is PEEK SEASON!! They may not be available in mid November...and I am not willing to take that chance...hahaha!
The top cutie wears a gold and tan holly leaf print dress with a coordinating apron featuring "LET IT SNOW" written everywhere, snomen, twiggy pine trees, and patches. She looks so very innocent...I just love those eyes.

JUST LISTED ON EBAY...

I recently began offering a small 14" doll on Ebay. A simple Annie with a cute face. Small enough to fit just about anywhere yet large enough to be visible. They are a great little dollie! And these 4 along with 4 others are up for auction on Ebay.

This first one...I decided to do something different. A completely stitched face. Yes, even the eyes are stitched! I like how she turned out...but not sure if she will be the hit that I anticipated. Even my husband liked this new face...LOL! Maybe he is just tired of seeing those big innocent eyes on all the other dolls and this is just "NEW" to him..LOL! Either way...I do like her and have 4 more that I am currently working on and will offer 2 more with the stitched faces by the end of the day tomorrow/Friday.

Even the hair style is a bit different on these 4...and the freckles above the noses is also something different for this smaller doll.

I have done them all in various mock 2 piece dresses which all coordinate nicely. I am a hoarder when it comes to fabric and save even the smallest scrap....and that is a good thing when it comes to creating these cuties. It was fun digging thru the drawer to find things that went well together. And yes, I even forced myself to toss some out that was just too small to make even a dress bodice. LOL! I think I finally realized that if I don't start getting rid of teeny tiny scraps....I will require some sort of hoarding therapy in the future. And I don't want that!!

Christmas Annies EDITED

I don't know....does anyone else think maybe I am jumping the gun on Christmas dollies? There is just so much holiday fabric right now....it is at its peak. Bolt after bolt...just screaming "BUY ME NOW"....so I did! LOL! I was reeling with excitement when my daughter and I went shopping last Wednesday...in fact...I even put some of it back! But there were certain prints that were just too hard to resist. I think I am going to go have another look today! LOL!

NEW pattern #133 is my 1st attempt at a folk art-ish cat and baby. I think they turned out pretty nicely for a first timer. LOL! I have the finished dolls listed on ebay right now and the pattern for them is also within my listings...Just click HERE to go to the ebay doll listing or click HERE to go to the listing for the pattern.

Currently I am working on a new design for a Pilgrim Pair...not quite sure what they will be called yet...but the bodies are stuffed and awaiting the paint for their boots and the stain for their bodies... I think I will try my hand at some sculpted faces for them and realistic looking eyes for a change...?...Hmmmm?

I have also been spending alot of time in the kitchen. With the garden producing fresh veggies for me to can it has been keeping me quite busy. Today I canned tomaotes and green beans and made some garlic and dill pickles...Yummmmmmm! I think totally this season I have done maybe a bit over a dozen quarts of tomatoes. And we had such a problem with rabbits early on eating the green beans...they are now a late crop...but producing nicely...I cannot complain! I think we will be eating fresh throughout the winter to come. Every little bit helps.

It has been awhile since my last blog....I thought I would take a minute this morning and let you all in on what is new around here....

I just happen to like her better in the blue and yellow and wish I would have finished this one first...LOL! She would most likely have a different name and THIS would be the cover of the pattern. But...at least this shows you that she doesn't NEED to be made into a patriotic/americana type doll...the little bear is totally cute with her drop waist dress...VERY simple doll to create with a one piece body and head construction.

Hot off the drawing board is a new 15" raggedy set I have named Yankee Doodle Raggedies. They are listed in my Etsy shoppe as of this morning and also on Ebay. This pattern is a VERY simple one piece body/head construction. All of my patterns feature the trace & sew method which, in my opinion, gives you a more true shape after sewing. They have squared off toes/shoes....I really like this and have been doing it to dolls more and more lately. Finished Doll....Simply Courtney done in a pink ladybug and flower patchwork print. This doll is approximately 23" tall and is stained with a blend of coffee and tea for a perfectly prim skin tone.

Her dress bodice is a pink, green and cream stripe print. Her skirt shoulder straps criss cross in the back. There are 2 pink buttons attached where the shoulder straps meet the skirt top. I have added pink rick rack to the bottom edge of the skirt about an inch and a half from the bottom. She has painted socks with scalloped edge lace atop. Her shoes are painted black and gently sanded for a worn appearance.

She has a full head of auburn brown wool hair and I have attached a matching fabric bow just off center in her hairline. Her facial features are hand drawn, hand painted, shaded and sealed.

She is made from muslin and stained with a blend of coffee and tea for a perfectly prim skin tone. She wears a barn red, navy and cream flag print dress. Her apron is a coordinating barn red star print.

There are 1 blue button at the chest of the dress bodice. She wears unstained muslin bloomers beneath her dress. Her legs stripes are dry brushed with barn red....and the toes and heels of her socks are painted barn red and lightly sanded on her turned down toes.

That is right...I have decided to sell this Easter cutie right here on this very blog. I will be offering her until March 31st. Here is a bit about her....

She is made from muslin and stained with a blend of coffee and tea for a perfectly prim skin tone...and is approximately 16" in height. She wears a pink with white polka dot dress. Her pinafore apron is a coordinating Easter Egg print in a multitude of colors. There are 2 teal buttons at the chest of the pinafore top. I have given her a bunny prim tag tied around her neck.
She wears unstained muslin bloomers beneath her dress. Her socks are painted off white. Her mary jane style shoes are painted black and sanded. There are 2 teal buttons attached at the mock shoe straps. Her face is hand drawn, hand painted, shaded and sealed. Her hair is cinnamon wool. I have attached a matching fabric bow just off center in her hairline.

She comes complete with a little chocolate Easter Bunny in a wicker basket. The bunny is a purchased pet...it features a coordinating shiny satin ribbon at neck and floral embroidery on its side.

These are the 3 NEW annies I have listed on Ebay. This will be the last St. Patricks Day Annie for this year. I actually enjoyed working with that sort of fabric this year...didn't do much of it last year. The other 2 Simply Courtney Annies are done in pastel Spring type fabrics. And for some reason...lately I am drawn to blues rather than pinks.
Just thought I'd post these quick before American Idol comes on....the guys sing tonite. I really like that Garcia guy who redid the Paula Abdul song "Straight Up"...what a unique twist.

Hayden and her baby Iggy are my new Mama Bunny and Baby design. Hayden is 23" tall. Iggy is 9". They are both made from muslin and stained with a mix of coffee and tea.

Baby Iggy hangs from Haydens hand by a safety pin. She wears a matching fabric dress. Haydens boots have 6 buttons per boot that her shoe laces wrap around and tie near the top.

Finished Doll FOR SALE

This Simply Courtney doll featured here will be listed for sale on my selling blog today. She is a 23" Raggedy Ann type dollie done in a deep red print blouse. It has various sayings such as Gourmet, Slice and Dice, Recipe etc. The skirt is a deep red, blue and green patchwork featuring Chefs....I love those fat chefs! She has raggedy red wool hair and a hand drawn, painted, shaded, and sealed face. Her bloomers are muslin and primitive stitched at each leg opening. Her shoes are painted and sanded...she has painted socks topped with scalloped edge lace. She is a real cutie....

Sugar Free Cheesecake Recipe

This is probably my most favorite "sweet treat" recipe since I found out I was diabetic 5 years ago. I was never a cookie or candy lover...but...I LOVE a good slice of pie.
For those of you who are watching your fat or cholesterol intake...use a fat free cream cheese and sour cream....only use the egg whites and one of the yolks...then add 3 tbsp of flour.

***CRUST***
1 cup grahm cracker crumbs
2 packets of Splenda
3 Tablespoons of Margarine, melted
***FILLING***
4 8oz. packages of Cream Cheese, softened
20 packets of Splenda
4 eggs
3 heaping Tablespoons of sour cream
1 Tablespoon of vanilla
***TOPPING***
1 Package of frozen mixed berries (strawberry, blueberry and red raspberry)
4 packets of Splenda
1 Tablespoon water

Combine crumbs, Splenda and margarine: press onto bottom of 9" springform pan. Bake at 325* for 10 minutes.

Combine cream cheese and Splenda,(add in the flour if you are choosing this method)...mixing at medium speed on electric mixer until well blended. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Blend in sour cream and vanilla, pour over crust. Bake at 450* for 10 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 250*, continue baking for 1 hour. Loosen cheesecake fron rim of pan...cool before removing the rim of pan. Chill.

Place the frozen mixed berries in a 3qt pot. Add Splenda and water. Heat on low until berries are no longer frozen. They do not need to actually cook. Chill. I use the topping per slice rather than over the entire cake.

Randy is leaving tonite to go to Tomah, Wisconsin for some ice fishing...along with our daughters boyfriend Josh and his friend Dean. Brrrrrrr. He will be staying at the camper tonite and on Saturday he has to sign up for the 1st annual Ralph Kosch Ice Fishing Tournament. Ralph is my husbands father who passed away almost a year ago. He owned a sporting goods shop just off Lake Redstone between Reedsburg and LaValle Wisconsin called 4 Seasons Sports...My mother in law recently sold it to a man from here in Illinois. In honor of Ralph...the man who built that business from the ground up and invested 13 plus years into it....he is naming the Ice fishing derby after him. It is a very nice gesture and should attract alot of contestants.
I am not going....I got sick last night...finally got what everyone else had. I could feel it coming on yesterday and chose to ignore it, hoping it would go away...but then...around 4PM it hit me full on. I am achy, stuffy, probably have a fever, and am just plain tired. I don't have time for this...I have too much to do. And it is so cold here....1 degree outside this morning....and I KNOW I have to go purchase some muslin today to make more dollies.....I have things to ship...I wanted to invite my daughter and Handsome Pants for dinner tonite...UGH!!
Anyway....I am hugging my trusty box of Aloe Kleenex and taking some DayQuil...that should knock me out.... YAY!! I really don't like the feeling of my head floating above my shoulders...

I worked 'til 9PM last night to finish these new dollies that are now listed on ebay. The first one is another St. Patricks Day/Irish themed Annie...with the cinnamon wool hair. I have given her a little wooden St. Patricks day card with a wire hanger to hold. It isn't visible in this photo...but I assure you it is there. The second one is a Valentine's Day themed Annie in bright pink, red and a hint of purple. I have given her a wooden heart with HUG written on it...it hangs on her wrist from a wire hanger. Both hanging accessories are removable to use somewhere else if you choose.

MY VERY FIRST GIVEAWAY!

I have been thinking about this for quite sometime....and yesterday when I was looking for something in the craft room and stumbled upon 2 forgotten dollies...I knew it was time to do this. So...these 2 dollies had been lost in the mass of forgotten fabric for who knows how long. I think these were 2 of the first dolls I made about 2 years ago from a pattern by Patties Ratties....yep...you read that correctly...2 years they had been buried beneath fabric. They were a part of my grubby/blotchy staining phase...LOL.

I remember why I had put them in there, never to be seen again. The yarn that I had originally used for their hair frayed and puffed up on me...It looked HORRID!! So....off to the craft table they went...both of them tucked beneath my arm. And I began to rip their hair off...LOL... I gave them both an EXTREME MAKEOVER. They both recieved NEW HAIRDO'S and even some new blush.

I have listed one, that I gave some raggedy red wool hair,(not a full head of hair) on Ebay starting bid $9.99. This one I have given some medium brown wool hair (not a full head of hair...just along the seam line) and decided to use her as a giveaway doll. She wears a mock 2 piece dress. The bodice is a red and white check. The dress skirt is an out of print Debbie Mumm featuring old world Santa's. She wears blotchy stained bloomers beneath that are gathered at the leg openings. She has painted leg stripes. Her facial features, including her nose, are hand stitched...and lets not forget those button eyes. She has medium brown wool hair with a matching fabric bow accented with a button just off center in her hairline.

FRECKLES

I'll admit it...I was excited to get these 2 Freckles done. I had just purchased these shoes and could hardly wait to get them on her. These 2 were done a bit differently. I usually give them ponies...but these have pigtail braids. And I really like this look for her.

The first one is done in a blue daisy floral print with a coordinating plaid apron. Her shoes are a blue suede with little flowers across the toe...REALLY CUTE!

The other is done in a pink and white check with floral print dress. She has a matching patchwork print apron. Her shoes are a pink and white polka dot canvas slip on....HOW FUN!! Wish they made these in adult sizes. Her hair is a cinnamon wool.

NEW ON EBAY!! These are 2 of the new Simply Courtney finished dollies I have listed on Ebay... One wears a creamy beige tonal swirl pattern blouse with a heart/Valentine print skirt. She has soft brown wool hair...YES...a full head of hair. Painted, drawn, shaded and sealed facial features.

The other is an Irish Annie...all dress and ready for St. Patricks Day. She wears a green and black striped shamrock print blouse with a patchwork print skirt featuring Leprechauns, shamrocks, pots of gold...etc. I even created a prim hang tag for her which has Irish Annie written on the front.

I have been working my self ragged lately trying to keep things listed on ebay every other day...UGH....but yesterday I hit a stand still when I ran out of thread. Oh well...I needed a break...

Y'know....I get so bored making the same thing over and over....I don't see how some of these dollmakers can make the same doll day after day...and yeah...I understand that you are using different fabrics...and I actually get excited just to see how they will turn out....I don't know....maybe it is just me...maybe it is just the fact that I am cooped up...too cold to do anything more than venture to the mailbox...and too trecherous too with the snow.

So....I designed yet another doll for pattern....she is AnnaMarie named after someone very special to me...paper pattern #124....she is 10" tall....and similar to Hannah and Lil MaryAnne...just smaller. She is listed on eBay and on my Etsy shop. Check them out for more photos.

Christmas

Apparently I have let nearly 2 months pass without writing anything in my blog....UGH...holidays...glad they are over.

Christmas went off without a hitch....well...there was that big ice storm on Thursday....broken branches were everywhere from the weight of the frozen snow and ice. But hey....every thing has a bright side. The broken branches from the crooked pine tree were laying everywhere in the front yard. And it is weird that I had just told my husband to cut me some so that I could lay them atop the suspended ladder above the breakfast bar....and let them droop over the cabinets. So....amist sleet, rain and snow....I pulled 2 well over 8 ft branches up onto the porch and began cutting smaller branches from the large one.... They were so heavy from the frozen ice....I had to put them into the tub to thaw...and from there they went to their perspective places to hang.

And you know you are old when the only plans you have for New Years Eve is sitting at home, having your parents for dinner, and planning to stay up to watch the ball drop in New York on tv....but never making it past 10:30. Woo Hoo....ain't this livin'?

Well....I have decided to throw myself head first into patterns this year....yep...that was my resolution. We will see how long this lasts.....May perhaps?

A dear lady from Canada asked me to make her a Patches Santa...but, she wanted me to create a Mrs. for him. So, I did...and voila...Mrs. Claus Pattern #123. Which goes nicely with Patches #121. I fell in love with her as soon as she was seated next to him...and I think HE DID TOO!!

Well, I finally finished 2 more Simply Courtneys in holiday prints...I have been trying to find cute little items for them to hold...and digging thru last seasons left overs of little things. I had completely forgotten about the "BELIEVE" metal sign the one now holds...but I did just purchase the penguin for the other when I bought the fabric. OH...and the prim tags...geez...I forgot all about having those
from last year. I think I may have just given up putting them on the dolls last year.
